What’s stranger than Stranger Things? The story that inspired the show — an alleged government program called the Montauk Project. This week, we’re putting on our tinfoil hats and diving into the conspiracy that claims a quiet Long Island military base was the site of secret experiments involving psychics, mind control, time travel, and something that may have torn a hole in reality itself. Between whispered cover-ups, chilling testimonies, and a mysterious radar tower that still looms over the landscape, this story feels like sci-fi.

Was the Montauk Project a real extension of documented government experiments, or did one story spiral into a full-blown paranormal legend complete with monsters and memory wipes?

We’re heading deep into the Appalachian Mountains to uncover the Cherokee legend of the Nvnehi, immortal beings not bound by time or space, who live inside the mountains, under rivers, and just outside our perception. 

Rumors of phantom music in the woods, hidden underground towns, invisible warriors, and people who slip in and out of our world have long haunted the region. Pig Lady Road is one of New Jersey’s most intriguing urban legends—a dark, winding road where a half-woman, half-pig apparition is said to appear to unlucky drivers after midnight. We break down the rumored origins of the Pig Lady, tragic tales of disfigurement and isolation that lead a vengeful spirit to wait for curious teens to test their luck.

But the most likely origin of this legend is very real and very disturbing: the Hall–Mills murders of 1922, a sensational double homicide involving secret affairs, powerful families, missing evidence, and a witness cruelly nicknamed “the Pig Woman.” We explore how true crime, media frenzy, class dynamics and misogyny blurred together to thwart justice and transform a real woman into folklore. This brutal case sparked a century of haunting stories that still linger on New Jersey roads today.
