When she was 12, her dad and new stepmom moved the family into an older house that never felt quite right. She chalked it up to horror movies—until the very first night she babysat and heard a violent crash, like metal slamming against metal… twice. Nothing was out of place. No explanation.
Six months later, while her parents drove two hours away to a casino, she stayed behind with the kids. At 2:30 a.m., the dog’s barking snapped her awake—and then she heard footsteps in the hallway.
