Sniffies' Cruising Confessions

Cruising has changed. We all know this. But how much do we actually know about what it looked like before Sniffies, before the internet — before all of it?
This episode takes a historical deep dive into the art of cruising: the highlights, the fun facts, and the turning points — including how HIV/AIDS reshaped everything in the 1980s. What's been gained and what's been lost? Do our ancestors turn over in their graves knowing we're out here swiping instead of prowling? And has PrEP really opened the door to go full analogue again?
We discuss Peter Staley, Frank Cameny, ACT UP, Mattachine Society, and other big moments cruising informed the gay liberation movement. Our guide through all of this is historian Eric Cervini, and yes, he has receipts.

STIs don't discriminate, yet why do we think gay guys are the only ones who get them? This episode digs into why info on HIV prevention isn't always distributed equally.
Why are trans men and women often overlooked in HIV prevention? How do race, class, and educational access shape who gets information about PrEP? And what can we do to make sexual-health education more inclusive and less stigmatized?
Answering these questions with us is nationally recognized infectious disease physician Dr. Demetre Daskalakis.

Trans women and gay men have been sharing space since the very beginning — and whether you're on Sniffies, at the club, or on Fire Island, the overlap has never been more real.
This episode dives deep into an increasingly de-homogenized community: the history of gay and trans spaces, how that's changed today, and what cruising, nightlife, and safe sex look like when our worlds collide. How do our similarities and differences shape our desires, our health, and our ability to thrive?
Joining us is the writer and nightlife producer Kay Gabriel, who helps us think through all of it with the depth and nuance it deserves.

Why does an STI take a certain amount of time to show up on a test? And why do I have to conduct what feels like investigative reporting to make sense of the timeline? This episode gets into the nitty gritty of seroconversion, contact tracing, PrEP, and PEP.
Look no further for your guide to understanding how far back one must go when dealing with a testing scare or risk of exposure. It’s a lot easier than you think!
Dr. Demetre Daskalakis returns to talk about little known facts about “seroconversion,” the 101 of contact tracing and more.

Gay men are perhaps the most aesthetic community out there: gym routines, filler, hair plugs, veneers, BBLs, skincare, holetox, steroids, and even surgery. This episode dives into the “looksmaxing” of it all, and other trends that inform (or infect) our community.
Is everyone who gets cosmetic surgery insecure? Are you toxic for having a really strict gym regimen? How do we draw the line between affirming aesthetic body modification and unhealthy impulses informed by cultural pressure?
Answering these questions with us are two guests: nurse practitioner “Injector Chris” and therapist Benjamin Goldman.
