In this message from John 18:28–19:16, we see that Jesus truly is the Perfect King. He stands as the innocent King, falsely accused yet without sin, revealing His perfect righteousness. At the same time, He is the sovereign King, fully in control even as events unfold toward the cross. We also witness Him as the suffering King, willingly enduring pain and humiliation for the sake of others. Despite His perfection, He is the rejected King, denied by His own people and condemned by the world. Yet through His innocence, sovereignty, suffering, and rejection, Jesus accomplishes salvation and proves that His kingdom is unlike any other.

This past Sunday we were blessed to hear from Dr. Paul Chitwood about Romans 3:9-18, “The World’s Greatest Problem”. We are faced with Lostness as an eternal and universal problem. One that only God can save us from.

In John 17:1–26, we are given the powerful picture of Jesus praying just before the cross—praying first for His glory, that the Father would be glorified through His obedience and sacrifice; then for His disciples, that they would be protected, sanctified in truth, and united in a hostile world; and finally for all future believers, including us, that we would be one and one day share in His glory. This chapter reminds us that our salvation, security, and unity rest in Christ’s ongoing intercession—Jesus prays for you.

In John 15:18–16:15, Jesus prepares His followers for the reality that the world will oppose those who belong to Him, just as it opposed Him, because our lives reflect His truth and challenge what stands against God. Yet this warning comes with a promise: we are not left alone. Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit—our Helper and Advocate—who strengthens us and guides us into truth. Though we may be hated, we are never without help, because the Spirit’s presence reminds us that we belong to Christ and that He truly changes everything.
