  Belfast’s SOPHIE steps up to the Local Selection with an hour of mind-bending cuts. Moving fluidly from low-slung bass grooves to shuffled Illian Tape-esque techno, hard-drum tribal weapons and beyond, firmly proving why she’s one of the island’s most exciting new selectors. The Social Sounds boss has become a pillar of Belfast’s current scene. She’s part of a new wave of artists steering the vanguard of what can only be described as the city’s new underground guard. Her party offers a true alternative: left-field, challenging sounds that never veer into self-indulgence. It’s undeniably danceable, yet clearly driven by a desire to expand her crowd’s palette, and that’s exactly what SOPHIE has been striving for. Her DJ approach mirrors this ideology: a wide-ranging, genre-flexible sound that travels through techno, house, dub and beyond. Her selections lean toward the left-field and forward-thinking, shaped by a clear understanding of how to command a dance floor without relying on the obvious.   November 22nd 2025 is SEVEN's First Birthday! We are celebrating in style with an incredible remix EP of our label co-founder CRYME's amazing track London Boy. The Vinyl EP features remixes by three incredible artists who all love the original track and played in repeatedly in their sets. MCR-T, Roza Terenzi and Jako Jako all made us their own special spin on the original. Stef de Haan came in with a wonderful remix as the digital bonus. Roza Terenzi supplies a sleek, modern club workout, reframing the vocal into playful rhythmic fragments and keeping the pulse elastic and unpredictable. Jako Jako strips it back with a floor-focused interpretation built on rolling drums and a bouncing bassline, carving space for a raw synth lead and chopped vocals that add a mischievous edge.   The 285th edition of our Local Selection mix series comes from Mav, who delivers a head-banging techno session built entirely from her own productions. Dublin’s Mav has become an essential force in contemporary Irish techno. Her approach stands apart from the conveyor-belt sensibilities often associated with the genre today. Instead, she delves deep into the world of live, hardware-driven performance, crafting tracks that feel raw, tactile and intensely human, music where machine and body interact to create something visceral and physical. Though she may have only come onto wider radars in recent years, Mav has been a committed participant in dance music culture for far longer. She began DJing in the early 2000s, eventually finding her home in the alternative club scene, a space where she could explore her gender identity while refining her artistic voice. Her sound sits firmly on the dark and industrial end of the techno spectrum. With roots in rock and metal, Mav approached electronic music from an outsider’s angle. Deep dives into industrial, darkwave, goth, EBM and aggrotech expanded her sonic vocabulary and continue to shape her creativity. She gravitates toward pounding four-on-the-floor rhythms, aggressive and hypnotic grooves, minimal melodies and deadpan vocals, elements that combine to set the stage for intense dance-floor journeys.
