In 1988, while families were traveling for the holidays, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over the small town of Lockerbie in Scotland. Everyone on board as well as 11 people on the ground died and soon Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was arrested and convicted of the crime, though questions of his guilt would continue to this day.

During a parade on July 22nd, 1916, in San Francisco, California, a bomb exploded, killing 10 people and wounding 40 more. Though two men were initially convicted, they were eventually pardoned and the bomber has never been uncovered.
