    This episode was recorded live on May 8th 2025 at the On Record: A Legacy of Hip Hop opening reception, hosted at Columbia College Chicago, 745 S Wabash Ave. The On Record exhibition is an archive of the Then, Now and Beyond of the people who have brought Hip Hop alive at Columbia College and what has been achieved. The exhibit will be featured on the first floor of Columbia's Student Center for the next year and can be seen from the outside on 8th street. The archived displays will be up until early 2026 and then relocated to the Chicago Hip Hop Heritage Museum. In this episode, Myka interviews multiple people of multiple generations about their stories, memories and experiences with Hip Hop culture. From all the way back to the earliest days from the 70's/80's to today, Hip Hop has impacted the lives of so many and has continuously connected people throughout time. This episode is a verbal history, an archive of it's own, capturing what may be forgotten one day and their is still so much that has not been said.   • Tanya (Shadow Puppetz)
    In this episode, Myka talks to Tanya from the Shadow Puppetz crew, a Chicago-based freestyle popping and animation crew, established in 2019. Tanya is a Chicago-based freestyle movement artist, educator, immigrant, mother and community leader. Tanya has over a decade of experience in her craft and has proven herself a fierce competitor in dance battles nation wide. She discusses her early years of dance training in Moscow Russia, how Shadow Puppetz Crew came to be, and touch on the issues and challenges of being a female in a male dominated scene. This episode addresses the many challenges that females face in male dominated spaces and how representation impacts who feels welcome.     In this episode, Myka interviews two professional dancers currently working with Chicago Dance Crash, Jessica Leyva and K.C Bevis,  who started their dance journey in pink tu-tus, bunned up hair and leotards. Now they find themselves involved in hip hop and street dance, a completely open and free form of movement and creative practice, something they did not get to experience in their earlier years. They discuss their experiences when first getting involved with the street dance scene here in Chicago and talk about their individual connections with dance and the specific styles that resonate with them.
