After losing a powerful orb, Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, comes to Earth to retrieve it and instead finds herself up against a wicked witch.

The film directed by Jeannot Szwarc and written by David Odell, based on the DC Comics character. It is a spin-off from the Superman film series and is set after the events of Superman III (1983). The film stars Helen Slater as Supergirl, along with Faye Dunaway, Hart Bochner, Peter Cook, Mia Farrow, Brenda Vaccaro, and Peter O'Toole, with Marc McClure reprising his role as Jimmy Olsen from the Superman films.

Paul Doiron is the author of the Mike Bowditch series of crime novels, including The Poacher's Son, which won the the Barry Award and the Strand Critics Award for Best First Novel and was nominated for an Edgar Award, an Anthony Award, a Macavity Award, and a Thriller Award for Best First Novel, and the Maine Literary Award for "Best Fiction of 2010." PopMatters named it to its Best Fiction of 2010 list.

Since 2010, Doiron has written over 16 novels and many short stories featuring Mike Bowditch, including his upcoming Storm Tide which hits stores on June 30, 2026. His novels have been translated into 11 languages.

This week on the Capes and Tights Podcast, Justin Soderberg welcomes comic creator Ande Parks to discuss his latest comics Bad Thoughts, Tyler Rake: An Extraction Story, and more!

Ande Parks has worked as a comic book artist for nearly three decades, inking titles such as Daredevil, Ant-Man, Superman, Wonder Woman and Nightwing. He is best known for his long stint on Green Arrow, with frequent collaborator Phil Hester and writers Kevin Smith, Brad Meltzer and Judd Winick. Parks' bold style has garnered him nominations in both the Harvey and Eagle awards.

Parks has written three graphic novels for Oni Press: Union Station, Capote in Kansas and Ciudad. Capote in Kansas was named a Notable Book by the state of Kansas. Parks developed Ciudad with the Russo brothers, and the book was adapted as a film for Netflix, titled 'Extraction' and starring Chris Hemsworth.

Parks has authored the Green Hornet and Lone Ranger franchises for Dynamite Entertainment, and has written Daredevil for Marvel Comics. He also adapted three Jonathan Kellerman novels to the graphic novel format for Random House.

More recently, Parks has been hard at work on Tyler Rake: An Extraction Story as well as Bad Thoughts over at Ignition Press.

Masters of the Universe was directed by Gary Goddard, produced by Yoram Globus and Menahem Golan, and written by David Odell. It stars Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, Frank Langella as Skeletor, Meg Foster as Evil-Lyn, Billy Bartyas Gwildor, Courteney Cox as Julie Winston, Robert Duncan McNeill as Kevin Corrigan, Jon Cypher as Man-At-Arms, and Chelsea Field as Teela.

First released on August 7, 1987, MOTU is available on Blu-ray!

This week on the Capes and Tights Podcast, Justin Soderberg welcomes back comic writer Joey Esposito to the program to discuss his latest comics Killer Influences, Power Rangers Unlimited, and more!

Joey Esposito grew up in New England reading comic books, playing video games, renting movies, and writing stories. After high school, Joey attended film school in New York. In college, Joey honed his writing skills, which he soon applied to his love of prose and comics. He released his first creator-owned comic Footprints, which was featured in USA Today’s Best of 2011 roundup and inspired a sequel, Footprints: Bad Luck Charm, in 2014.

More recently Esposito has written comics such as DC's Batman: Urban Legends, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Pedestrian, Power Rangers: Zord Quest, Shitkickers, and more.

In 2026, Joey is setup for a fun year with the release of Killer Influences and Power Rangers Unlimited on July 1 (FOC: May 25).
