PDB Afternoon Bulletin | March 14th, 2025: China, Russia Back Iran In Nuclear Standoff With Trump & Israel Condemns Hamas For Using Hostages For "Psychological Warfare"

First, China and Russia are coming to the aid of Iran, at least diplomatically, condemning the Trump administration’s attempts to pressure the Islamic regime into engaging in nuclear negotiations, and calling for an immediate lifting of what they called "illegal unilateral sanctions."
Later in the show, negotiations to extend the ceasefire in Gaza hit another snag on Friday, as Hamas said they would release an American-Israeli hostage, but only if Israel agreed to a laundry list of demands. Israel responded by slamming Hamas for the conditional offer, calling it a "manipulation" and act of "psychological warfare."

March 14th, 2025: Pentagon Draws Up Plans For Retaking The Panama Canal & Taiwan Hits Back At China's Infiltration And Espionage Campaign

First up, the White House has directed the Pentagon to draw up several options for increasing the American troop presence in Panama in order to achieve President Trump’s goal of "retaking" the Panama Canal. These plans reportedly range from partnering with local security forces to seizing the strategic trade route by force.
Later in the show, negotiations between Israel and Hamas on extending their fragile ceasefire in Gaza have reportedly stalled, though the White House is scrambling to find a temporary fix to prevent a return to fighting.
Plus, tensions are once again simmering in the South China Sea, as Taiwan's president warns that Beijing has expanded its influence campaigns, infiltration efforts and spying operations in an attempt to weaken the island’s defenses.
In our 'Back of the Brief' segment, a plane carrying Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte landed in the Netherlands on Wednesday, where he was formally transferred into the custody of the International Criminal Court and taken to The Hague to face charges of crimes against humanity.

First up, the trade war is now escalating worldwide, as Canada hits the U.S. with a 25 percent reciprocal tariff on steel and aluminum products, while the European Union vows to raise tariffs on up to $28 billion worth of U.S. goods.
Later in the show, the Kremlin has issued their first response to a U.S. proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, saying they are awaiting details from the Trump administration, while stressing that their territorial gains must be addressed as part of any deal.
Plus, the captain of a cargo ship involved in a catastrophic collision with a US-flagged tanker in the North Sea has been arrested by British authorities. A criminal investigation has been opened, and the captain, a Russian national, is being probed for manslaughter over the deadly incident.
In our 'Back of the Brief' segment, hundreds of hostages have been freed by Pakistani security forces after separatist militants wearing suicide vests hijacked a passenger train on Tuesday in an attack that left dozens of people dead.
