For centuries, hikers and travelers have seen strange beings at the top of the Santa Lucia Mountains.

Witnesses describe them the same way: tall men, wearing capes or cloaks, with a walking stick by its side, and wide a wide-brimmed hat. In fact, the Spanish colonizers also saw them, calling them "Los vigilantes oscuros", the Dark Watchers. We'll take a look at the legends and verify the information that circulates about these beings making themselves known for 13,000 years.

This is a lesser-known, short eerie legend of Ketell, as found on Chronicon Anglicanum by Radulphi de Coggeshall. You might recognize the chronicle's name because it's the same one where the story of the Green Children of Woolpit appears.
In this story, an innocent teenager that works the fields has an encounter with small demons that are planning to scare everybody in town. He soon realizes that he's the only one that can see demons and decides to keep the secret for himself. This story reached Radulphi's ears and he documented in the book as a true account. But how terrifying is it to be able to see these evil spirits?

On November 30, 1948 in South Australia, a man in a suit appeared on the beach.
Despite the many efforts of detectives, scientists, and the public, the man could not be identified. What made this mystery bizarre, was that there were cryptic messages and clues that made no sense. A small rolled up piece of paper, no labels on his clothing, and no apparent signs of struggle. However, in 2022, science finally caught up with the case and the identity was revealed. But even with that information, the case still remains a mystery.
