The “It” Girl: The entertainment industry’s term for the woman-of-the-moment. But did you know that Clara Bow was literally the first ever “It” Girl? In today’s episode, Olivia & Dani revisit the long-running ‘Remaining Relevant’ miniseries to break down the closing track of the standard version of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, which uses Clara as its namesake. Taylor has been in the industry long enough to know how the game is played: you find an attractive, talented girl; you make this girl into a star; you bleed her dry; you discard her.And on and on it spins. In this emotional track, Taylor explores different perspectives and narratives of the women of the past/future that have fallen victim to this system, as well as the execs in the chairs across from them that turned these women into “it” girls…and then move on to the next.
