- Dallas Cowboys legend Nate Newton joins Jeff Cavanaugh, Jesse Holley and Clarence Hill on the DLLS Cowboys Podcast to break down what he's seeing from the Cowboys at training camp.
Newton starts with one of the biggest questions on the Cowboys' offensive line: **Tyler Guyton**. The former Cowboys offensive lineman believes Guyton has all the physical tools — the feet, length, smooth sets and hand placement — but says Year 3 is the time for him to finally put everything together mentally and become the player Dallas drafted him to be.
Newton also discusses how the Cowboys should handle the expectations that come with having a dominant offense, why self-scouting will be critical with opponents already knowing what Dallas does well, and how the offense can add wrinkles without losing its identity.
The Cowboys legend also pushes back on the idea that Dallas should be written off, arguing that fans need to give this young team — and its young defensive players — a chance to grow. He specifically talks about the expectations being placed on young players and the importance of giving them time to develop.
**In this interview, Nate Newton discusses:**
- Tyler Guyton's make-or-break Year 3
- Why Guyton's biggest issue may be mental, not physical
- What the Cowboys need from their offensive line
- How Dallas can handle increased expectations
- Why self-scouting will be critical in 2026
- CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and the Cowboys' offensive weapons
- Why fans need to give the young Cowboys defense time to develop
- Christian Parker and the challenge of building a new defense
- What it takes to build a championship-caliber team

Stanback breaks down what he's seeing from the **new-look Cowboys defense**, explains why communication and confidence could be critical under defensive coordinator Christian Parker, and shares what he's looking for from Dallas as the defense tries to come together with so many new pieces.
But Stanback also delivers a fascinating take on the Cowboys' expectations. Does Dallas really have a "championship standard" right now? Stanback argues that the Cowboys need to focus on establishing success first — including building a **top-15 defense** to complement the team's offense and special teams — before calling a championship the standard.
He also weighs in on:
* CeeDee Lamb vs. George Pickens
* What George Pickens needs to prove in Dallas
* Jaydon Blue's potential Year 2 jump
* The importance of maturity for young NFL players
* What he's watching from the Cowboys' offensive line
* Why Dak Prescott is at his best with a strong running game
* Christian Parker's leadership and presence
* What the identity of the Cowboys' new defense could become

07/08/2026 | 2 minDallas Cowboys linebacker Sam Williams is back and feeling better than ever as he looks to make his return from injury and get back to the player he was before.
Speaking with the media, Williams opened up about being one year removed from his injury, the work he's put in during the offseason, and how he's rebuilding his confidence. He also discussed his position change and why he's excited to return to the type of defensive scheme he thrived in at Ole Miss.
But perhaps most notably, Williams explained how he has used the criticism surrounding his game as motivation. Rather than blame anyone else, Williams says he looked at himself in the mirror, identified what he needed to improve—including stopping the run and pass rushing—and went to work.
In this interview, Sam Williams discusses:
His health one year after his injury
Getting his confidence back
His position change
Returning to a scheme he's comfortable with
The criticism he's received about his game
Improving against the run
Becoming a better pass rusher
How he's using negativity as motivation
Why he's determined to let his work speak for itself
