The Chicago Bears started slow and were forced into yet another comeback attempt against the Detroit Lions in the regular season finale of NFL Week 18. After three scoreless quarters, Caleb Williams finally broke through with a touchdown pass to Jahdae Walker, a play that also made Williams the Bears’ new single-season passing yards record holder, passing Erik Kramer. Chicago tied the game late with a Colston Loveland touchdown and a successful Cole Kmet two-point conversion, but couldn’t capitalize on Kevin Byard’s league-leading seventh interception, as Detroit sealed the win on a Jake Bates field goal in the closing seconds. After forcing a punt, the Bears marched right down the field and capitalized with a Colston Loveland TD followed by a successful Cole Kmet 2-point conversion to tie the game at 16. But the Bears couldn’t take advantage of Kevin Byard’s league-leading 7th interception, and were forced into a 3-and-out.
