Tonight’s episode stands apart... a heartfelt tribute, a moment of reflection, and above all, a celebration. In this second-to-last installment of ASD, I have the distinct honour of presenting a showfill curated with great care and reverence, featuring some of the most cherished Progressive Rock gems that I’ve had the privilege to discover over the past eight remarkable years. Each track selected tonight is more than just a song – it is a thread in the intricate tapestry woven by Richard Z’s incredible body of work.
This show is, first and foremost, a dedication to Richard – a man whose passion for Progressive Rock has not only enlightened listeners but profoundly shaped the musical journeys of many, myself included. Richard, your unwavering commitment to sharing your deep knowledge and rare finds has been a beacon for those of us hungry to understand and appreciate the depth and brilliance of this genre.
Your influence has been transformative. You have introduced new worlds through sound, challenged our ears, and inspired wonder. For all the years, the effort, and the love you've poured into each episode... thank you. Thank you for your tireless devotion, your discernment, and your generosity of spirit.
Tonight, we play not just music, but a tribute to your legacy. You’ve changed the course of my musical appreciation forever, and I know I’m not alone.

One of modern modern music’s most enduring genres, progressive rock has flourished since the late sixties when radio switched to FM and music became adventurous and more artistic outside of the comfort zones of Pop. Progressive rock also branched into sub-genres; progressive folk, progressive metal, RIO — rock in opposition, avant-garde & experimental, progressive electronic, Psychedelic space rock, progressive Italiano, post-rock, krautrock, canterbury, jazz fusion, and many others. Unlike a lot of musical styles this is a worldwide experience as progressive rock has been embraced by virtually every country in the world and have bands throughout the last decades that have produced interesting blends of prog rock mixed in with their own country’s folk influences. Prog rock is less of an acquired taste and more a demanding experience that requires full attention and cannot be treated as a commodity. With its virtuosity and imaginative landscapes, the music takes the listener to the higher plane of musical enjoyment. Visit ASD Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CjswAttentionSurplusDisorder/
