We have a tendency to pass the problem on to somebody else rather than deal with it ourselves. At the end of First John, we read, “Dear children keep yourselves from idols.” That may seem like an odd way to end a letter, but no doubt the Lord wanted to emphasize the importance of steering clear of this sort of thing.
