Specific content warnings/themes for City of Winter include:
Forced displacement of people and loss of a place to call home
The gradual erasure of cultural traditions
The loss of close family members, parental figures and friends
Natural disasters
Themes of classism
Bullying and intense rivalry between characters
Show Notes
This week, Fiona is joined by my friends from Roleplay Retcon, Alex, Ben and Jenise for City of Winter, a roleplaying game about a fantastical family saga and immigrant experience.
Designed by Ross Cowan and illustrated by Doug Keith, City of Winter is a story game which follows the journey of a family as they migrate from their home in the Riverlands to live in the City of Winter - a magical metropolis. Family members will age and die, traditions will be passed from one generation to the next, and the players will encounter new traditions that change the family over time.
You can find out more information about City of Winter and grab your own copy on The Heart of the Deericorn website.

This week, Fiona is playing Koriko: A Magical Year - A solo journaling game with novice witches, urban exploration, and teenage drama.
Written by Jack Harrison and published by Mousehole Press, Koriko is a bubbling cauldron of simple rules and writing prompts, stirred together to produce the story of a teenage witch spending a year away from home in an unfamiliar city.
Using the book, a deck of tarot cards and a teetering tower of dice, the player will explore the city, work to improve their witch’s fortunes and meet some of the weird and wonderful residents who live there.
