Voices of kurimanzutto

Una conversación en vivo entre la escritora Cristina Rivera Garza y el artista Abraham Cruzvillegas, como parte de la primera exposición individual de John Giorno en México LIFE IS A KILLER, presentada en Septiembre 2026 en kurimanzutto Ciudad de México. 
El encuentro aborda las posibilidades de la traducción para llevar la literatura más allá de la página impresa, a través de distintos medios y disciplinas, como John Giorno exploró a lo largo de su trayectoria. 

Cristina Rivera Garza es una de las voces más reconocidas de la literatura mexicana contemporánea. Novelista, poeta, cuentista, ensayista y traductora. Es Profesora Distinguida en la Universidad de Houston, donde fundó y dirige el doctorado en Escritura Creativa en español.
Por su trabajo ha recibido múltiples reconocimientos. Entre los más recientes están  el Premio Pulitzer (2024), el National Book Award (2023), el Premio Villaurrutia (2021), y la beca MacArthur (2020). Sus libros más recientes son Terrestre (2025), Nadie me verá llorar (2024), edición del 25 aniversario; y El invencible verano de Liliana (2021).
Abraham Cruzvillegas revela un compromiso constante y cercano con el mundo material y con la construcción y transformación continua de identidades personales y colectivas. En paralelo a su producción artística, ha cultivado la escritura como una herramienta de investigación y reflexión personal que fusiona historia, crítica y ficción. Sus letras de canciones y textos sobre arte, política y cultura son una dimensión añadida a su práctica estética.

FUTURE DIALOGUES está inspirado en el programa intergeneracional de kurimanzutto, definido por una rica historia de colaboraciones artísticas. Esta serie de conversaciones se centra en el intercambio de conocimientos e ideas para los artistas y creativos del mañana, organizado por kurimanzutto y con el apoyo de Aeroméxico.

A conversation between the artist Ana Segovia and Professor of Contemporary Art and LGBTQ+ Julia Bryan-Wilson, as part of The Office of Inter-American Affairs Presents Ana Segovia’s first solo exhibition at kurimanzutto New York on October 2026.
The conversation examine how Segovia’s work invites a critical reconsideration of the ways visual culture can produce and reinforce idealized hegemonic representations. It also engage with queer theory and notions of queerness, exploring how these frameworks can destabilize normative constructions of gender, embodiment, and desire.

Julia Bryan-Wilson is Professor of Contemporary Art and LGBTQ+ studies at Columbia University. As curator-at-large at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo, she curated the major group show Queer Histories with Adriano Pedrosa and André Mesquita. Her books include Fray: Art and Textile Politics (winner of the ASAP Book Prize, the Frank Jewett Mather Award, and the Robert Motherwell Book Award) and Louise Nevelson’s Sculpture: Drag, Color, Join, Face. Her retrospective of Chilean feminist artist Lotty Rosenfeld, curated with Natalia Brizuela, is currently on view at the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive.
Ana Segovia produces images through paintings that subvert the heteronormativity of popular imaginaries. The artist revisits mythical scenes and figures from industries like film, reconfiguring their hegemonic role as idealized models of masculinity. He intervenes in their forms, alters their tonalities, and dislocates them, and it’s in this disruption where he reveals the montage, artifice, and the performativity in constructing gender and national identities.

Una charla entre Gala Porras-Kim y el curador José Esparza Chong Cuy sobre la carrera de la artista y los temas que aborda en su práctica. 
Esta conversación se da en el contexto de la exposición individual de Porras-Kim Espacios del futuro replican los del pasado, presentada en kurimanzutto Ciudad de México en abril de 2026.
Gala Porras-Kim realiza obra sobre contextos sociales y políticos que influencian cómo las cosas intangibles, como los sonidos, el lenguaje y la historia, han sido enmarcados a través de los campos de la lingüística, la historia y la conservación. Considera la manera en que las instituciones moldean los códigos y formas heredadas y a la inversa, cómo los objetos pueden moldear los contextos en los que se encuentran.
José Esparza Chong Cuy trabaja como director ejecutivo y curador en jefe de Storefront for Art and Architecture. Entre 2019 y 2025 también formó parte del consejo curatorial del Museo Tamayo en Ciudad de México. Antes de llegar a Storefront en 2018, fue curador asociado en el Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago y en el Museo Jumex de la Ciudad de México.

A conversation between the artist Mariana Castillo Deball and Dr. Diana Magaloni, recorded during Castillo Deball’s solo exhibition, Serpent Disappearances, at kurimanzutto New York on March 2026. 
This project traces the development and construction of her major public artwork Feathered Changes, commissioned for the plaza at the new David Geffen Galleries at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, designed by Peter Zumthor. 

Mariana Castillo Deball takes a kaleidoscopic approach to her practice, mediating between science, archaeology, and the visual arts and exploring the way in which these disciplines describe the world. Her installations, performances, sculptures, and editorial projects arise from the recombination of different languages that seek to understand the role objects play in our identity and history. Her works result from a long research process, allowing her to study the different ways in which a historical object can be read as it presents a version of reality that informs and blends into a polyphonic panorama. 
Dr. Diana Magaloni has led a versatile career over the past 35 years as museum leader, art historian, author, curator, and conservator. As Senior Deputy Director for Conservation, Curatorial, and Exhibitions at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), she leads an innovative mentoring and curatorial program as the Head Curator of the Department of Art of the Ancient Americas and serves as Director of the museum’s Conservation Center.
