Abortion is a hot topic, especially coming into the 2024 election. There are a lot of medical arguments and debates that can seem confusing. But before we tackle those conversations, I think it is important to visit the initial foundation that God gave us in regard to life. Birth is inherently spiritual, it is not just a medical procedure. Secondly, it important to look at a Gospel centered worldview that is not about our own comfort, but rather about God's glory. Jesus became poor that many would become rich. To live like Christ is to put away our own comfort and pleasures for the sake of others and ultimately for the sake of Christ. This quick podcast is not comprehensive on the topic of abortion, but provides a simple starting point for a Gospel view of this topic. 

Cycles of mental health and addiction can leave us crushed and hopeless. We can feel as if things will never change. This can also be true in trying to reconcile relationships. The spouse, child, friend, or co-worker will never change.... Yet we find in the third chapter of Jonah that change is available for everyone in Christ, and it can happen fast! Self reliance can be very deceptive. Is our faith in God’s grace? Or is our faith in our faith? Do we trust in our ability to trust God? Or do we take full responsibility for our sin and become humbled by God’s grace? Have you surrendered? Or are you looking for a quick fix? 

God’s will can be difficult to understand in times of suffering. This confusion can lead to despair and even suicidal thoughts and actions. However, we can not base our standing with God on our circumstances. Rather we must trust His grave and love and cling to His Word. 

Denial can be one of the most damaging behaviors of those struggling with mental health and addictions. It leads to selfishness and even worse, self-deception. As we study  the book of Jonah we will find how we can break free of cycles of denial and find freedom in Christ
