Craig, care to explain?! We also pressed him on who will be cementing the Oilers' starting goalie spot by season's end, and his answer might catch you off guard. Plus, Craig broke down what to expect from Isaac Howard and the rest of Edmonton's promising young talent, as well as a preview of what the visiting Vancouver Canucks will bring to the ice this year.
 
We then gave our Early Bird Bet presented by Play Alberta… our first one of this year's Oilers season.
 
Like we always do on a Tuesday's show, we gave our Weekly Confessions presented by Spectrum Rent All.

The wait is officially over—the NHL season is back, and we've got a massive game-day edition of The Nielson Show live on Edmonton Sports Talk!
 
Dustin Nielson and the fellas kick off the show buzzing for tonight's season opener at Rogers Place, as the Edmonton Oilers host the rival Vancouver Canucks! Is tonight shaping up to be an absolute beatdown by the Oil?
 
The first segment we hit on today's show was Morning Announcements for The Haddies Golf Shop to recap the sports action from yesterday.
 
After the break, we dove into The Fan Zone for Northern Gauge! In this segment, Dusty asked the nasties what their predictions are for the upcoming season. This took us to the end of hour one.

We got the third hour started with Mr Mikes Kind of Easy Trivia. 
 
It was then time for Three Questions Too Many presented by Park Mazda.
 
Joaquin Gage was the final guest on today's show. He stopped by to talk some F1 and plenty of Oilers talk as tomorrow is the big day.
 
We finished the show like we always do with The Wrap from William Huff.

Leading off today's show, NHL Insider Darren Dreger stopped by to put a bow on the preseason as we sit just hours away from opening night! Dregs shared his thoughts on how Mike Babcock managed the bench through exhibition play, emphasized why a fast start is critical for the Oilers, and gave a bleak forecast for Vancouver's upcoming season. To wrap up, Dregs scanned the Pacific Division playoff picture before weighing in on how long Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl will remain paired on the top line.

Chris Streveler then joined the boys in the middle of hour two to give a full recap from CFL Week 17.
