NHL Insider Chris Johnston kicked off today's show, starting with the incredible vibes in Montreal right now. The Canadiens are flying high after their Game 1 win, and CJ thinks this group is truly just getting started. From there, we shifted focus to the Western Conference Final to preview tonight's action and break down exactly how devastating the loss of Cale Makar will be for the series.
 
Next up was a massive Oilers coaching debate: with Edmonton still blocked from interviewing Bruce Cassidy, who takes over as the definitive front-runner for the bench boss vacancy? We wrapped things up with CJ's take on whether Red Wings goalie prospect Sebastian Cossa is a realistic trade target for the Oilers, and what to expect next from the Vancouver Canucks management group this offseason.

The weekend is finally in sight, and the fellas are back to wrap up the week with a massive Friday edition of The Nielson Show, streaming live on Edmonton Sports Talk! The sports world cooked up an absolute masterpiece last night, and we are diving headfirst into dominant playoff statement wins, gridiron returns, and our favourite Friday tradition.
 
Like we always do, Lt. Eric laid out the show, the boys touched on their nights, we then hit Morning Announcements for The Rundle Park Short Course to recap all the action from last night.
 
In the middle of hour one we got into YouTube Trev's trade of the day. Another great trade he assembled that got taken down by the nasties. A tradition unlike any other.
 
We capped off hour one on a Friday's show like we always do by Cracking Some Packs powered by Wayne's Sports Cards & Collectables.

Rod Black was the final guest on today's show. It's been a minute since the boys have spoken with Rod so they first caught up with their old friend before they got into the sports talk. Rod just released a book 'Cut to Black' which he spent a good chunk of time highlighting. This book covered Black's life journey in and outside of the studio. From news stories of a lifetime, to smaller moments that never left him. He finished with an update on his son who is absolutely crushing it.
 
The Elks season is almost upon us, the fellas dove into The Elks Weekly Bugle to tee up their first preseason game this upcoming Saturday in BC.

Bringing his unique perspective as an ex-coach, Bruce weighed in on the current state of the Oilers' coaching staff and shared why he believes Connor McDavid is the ultimate captain. Plus, as always, we wrapped up our chat with Bruce by diving into the latest headlines from around the WWE.

To cap off hour two, Reid Wilkins stopped by… over the phone? He gave us his beef, touched on McDavid as a captain and finished with the ongoing coaching carousel right here in Edmonton.
