    The Nielson Show - May 14th, 2026 - Hour 3

    14/05/2026 | 50 min
We got the third hour started with Mr Mikes Kind of Easy Trivia.

It was then time for Three Questions Too Many presented by Park Mazda.

Before the beer of the week, we got into Scalding Hot Takes! No shortage of takes from the boys today...

It's Friday, which means it's the fan favourite Sobeys & Safeway Liquor Beer of The Week! This weeks beer of the week was provided by Nick Fodor from Grizzly Paw Brewing. He joined the fellas virtually to showcase this weeks beer of the week, which is their Big Shiny Brews Mixer Pack. You can purchase a 12-pack for $24.99, saving $8.00 when you buy one!

We finished the show like we always do with The Wrap from William Huff.

    The Nielson Show - May 14th, 2026 - Hour 2

    14/05/2026 | 57 min
Luke Gazdic joined us to kick off hour two, and the conversation went straight to the bombshell news of the Kris Knoblauch firing. Like most of the hockey world, Luke is stunned by the timing and the optics of the move. He breaks down why this isn't necessarily a "good look" for the organization and explores what the future holds for Knoblauch. We also dove into the locker room dynamics: Is a hard-headed, "old school" coach truly what Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl need to reach the next level? Plus, Luke shares his keys to tonight's matchup between the Habs and Sabres.

It was then time for the Play Alberta Early Bird Bet of the day.

In the middle of the hour it was time for I Got Beef. Plenty of beef from the boys today.

Reid Wilkins capped off hour two with his thoughts on the Oilers decision to fire head coach Kris Knoblauch.

    The Nielson Show - May 14th, 2026 - Hour 1

    14/05/2026 | 52 min
Holy crap. Kris Knoblauch has been officially fired... and that's how we started the show today. Ryan Rishaug broke the news, then we immediately had him on the show to discuss the decision. Why now? Is Cassidy the next man in? Will Knoblauch get a job elsewhere? Shauggey had all the answers.

We briefly hit Morning Announcements next to recap all the action from last night.

After the break, we hit YTT's trade of the day, which today, was not his best work... depending on who ask.

We capped off hour one with Fired Up for Gemco Fireplaces. Nothing short to be fired up about today.

    The Nielson Show - May 13th, 2026 - Hour 3

    13/05/2026 | 50 min
We got the third hour started with Mr Mikes Kind of Easy Trivia.

It was then time for Three Questions Too Many presented by Park Mazda.

We closed out the show with Ryan Rishaug, and there was no shortage of fireworks regarding the Oilers' coaching carousel. Ryan broke down the "conundrum" currently facing the organization and the complex optics of moving on from Kris Knoblauch. We also pivoted to the Vegas Golden Knights' role in this saga, debating whether their reported refusal to grant interview permission is a savvy business move or a bad look for the league.

We finished the show like we always do with The Wrap from William Huff.

    The Nielson Show - May 13th, 2026 - Hour 2

    13/05/2026 | 58 min
Jamie McLennan joined the show to provide a deep dive into the coaching firestorm in Edmonton. "Noodles" didn't pull any punches, arguing that a change behind the bench was overdue and outlining the specific coaching profile needed to stabilize this roster. Beyond the X's and O's, the former NHL netminder broke down the ongoing crisis in the Oilers' crease and questioned if a coaching swap is enough—or if the real issues stem from the front office. We wrapped up with his pulse check on the rest of the NHL playoff bracket.

It was then time for the Play Alberta Early Bird Bet of the day.

We then gave some Free Advice for Damon Bunting. As always, the boys provided some great advice today.

Chris Morris joined the show to wrap up hour two with a comprehensive update from Edmonton Elks training camp. Chris detailed the aggressive roster overhaul from this offseason and explained why the culture being built in the locker room—and the community—feels fundamentally different this year. We also got his take on the arrival of Cody Fajardo and how the veteran QB fits into the Elks' new-look offense, plus a breakdown of the recent CFL rule changes designed to jumpstart the 2026 season.
