Happy Fourth of July, and Happy 250th, if you're in the United States. We're here to keep you company if you're traveling, heading to the beach or just staying indoors and enjoying the AC because it's too damn hot outside. Here's what we reviewed on the latest episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast:
ENOLA HOLMES 3. It's not as fun as the first two "Enola Holmes" movies, but watching Millie Bobby Brown break the fourth wall and bust out her comic chops is always a joy. This time, the young detective is preparing to marry Tewkesbury on the island of Malta, but a kidnapping derails her plans. Henry Cavill, Louis Partridge and Helena Bonham Carter co-star. Streaming on Netflix.

MOVIE NEWS LIVE! So much to talk about as always, including Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding, the "Backrooms" extended edition, the "Werwulf" trailer, Jon Erwin's use of AI in "Young Washington," Mel Brooks' 100th birthday and more. Join us on Fridays at Noon Pacific.

Wow, it's July! We have a quick little episode to kick off the month and the second half of the year. Here's what we reviewed on the latest Breakfast All Day podcast:
MINIONS & MONSTERS. The third Minion movie and the seventh film in the "Despicable Me" franchise is surprisingly hilarious, as those tiny, yellow chaos agents storm Hollywood and invent cinema as we know it. Lots of classic movie references for the adults in the audience and madcap hilarity for everyone, regardless of age. Allison Janney, Trey Parker, Christoph Waltz and Jesse Eisenberg are among the voice cast. In theaters everywhere now.
YOUNG WASHINGTON. Before he was the first president of the United States, George Washington was a scrappy upstart with ambitions and mistakes to make. That's the point of this Angel Studios take on the founding father, set in 1755 Virginia. Starring William Franklyn-Miller, Kelsey Grammer, Ben Kingsley and Mary-Louise Parker. Coming soon to a middle school social studies classroom near you, but playing in theaters starting July 3.

Supergirl may not save humanity, but we're always here for you at Breakfast All Day. Here's what we reviewed in our latest episode:
SUPERGIRL. It's getting mostly mixed-negative reviews, and we're on the lower end of that scale. We enjoyed Milly Alcock as the aggressively blasé Kara Zor-El, and we really liked Jason Momoa as the imposing Lobo, but for the most part this "Superman" follow-up is a mess. Matthias Schoenaerts and Eve Ridley co-star. In theaters.
JACKASS: BEST AND LAST. After more than a quarter century, Johnny Knoxville and his rowdy, masochistic friends can still make you squirm and howl with laughter at their elaborate stunts. But this final "Jackass" movie is also surprisingly poignant. Kids, don't try this at home. In theaters.

Come on over for some charcuterie and film criticism on the latest episode of Breakfast All Day.
We have an early review of "The Invite," starring Olivia Wilde, Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton. They play neighboring couples in a San Francisco apartment building who get together for a hilarious and exquisitely awkward dinner party. Wilde directs from a screenplay by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones, based on the Spanish film "The People Upstairs." Opening in New York and Los Angeles June 26 before expanding nationwide in upcoming weeks.
Then, we thought we'd take a moment at the halfway point of the year to highlight our favorite movies so far. We have a little bit of overlap but also some very different titles, including a couple of movies Alonso has seen that we haven't even reviewed yet. What would you put on your list? Let us know!

We already reviewed the big movie of the week -- that would be "Toy Story 5" -- so we wanted to tell you about a couple of cool, new indies on this Friday edition of Breakfast All Day:
THE DEATH OF ROBIN HOOD. Hugh Jackman stars in this darkly violent version of the Robin Hood legend. Specifically, he wants no part of it, and would rather live out his final days in peace. Michael Sarnoski's film is beautiful but brutal. Co-starring Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård and Murray Bartlett. In theaters.

LEVITICUS. Two young men (Joe Bird and Stacy Clausen) fall in love in a decaying Australian mill town. Religious leaders force them into a conversion therapy that makes them fear an enigmatic, threatening version of each other. Writer-director Adrian Chiarella executes this inspired horror concept extremely well in his feature filmmaking debut. In theaters.

MOVIE NEWS LIVE! This went extra long because there was so much to talk about, including the "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" trailer, Amazon dropping Luca Guadagnino's Sam Altman movie, Fox buying Roku, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" at Sphere Las Vegas, and Ben Stiller's New York Knicks documentary.
