This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Texas to discuss the case of Willow Grace Clare, an 11-month-old infant from San Antonio, Texas, who was tragically killed in a high-profile domestic violence attack perpetrated by her father. On April 10, 2023, Stephen Michael Clare, a nurse practitioner, carried out a brutal assault at his ex-wife's home on Robinhood Place near Alamo Heights. He shot his ex-wife, Mariah Gardner, five times, and repeatedly stabbed Willow and her two-year-old sister. Mariah's two older sons managed to escape and seek help. Willow passed away from her injuries the following day, just two days shy of her first birthday. Mariah and the two year old girl miraculously survived the attack after undergoing extensive medical treatment. Stephen was indicted on charges of capital murder of a child under 10, attempted capital murder, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. After nearly three years of legal proceedings, during which prosecutors initially weighed seeking the death penalty, he pleaded guilty to capital murder in February 2026. Under the terms of a plea deal accepted by State District Judge Joel Perez, Stephen was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, waiving all rights to an appeal.

This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Africa to discuss the case of Hana Grace Rose Williams, (born Hana Alemu Befekadu) a 13-year-old Ethiopian-born girl who died of hypothermia and severe malnutrition after suffering years of horrific abuse at the hands of her adoptive parents in Sedro-Woolley, Washington. Her tragic death sparked international outrage and cast a spotlight on the lack of oversight in international adoptions and the dangers of extreme, isolationist parenting practices. Hana was adopted from an Ethiopian orphanage in 2008 by Larry and Carri Williams, a Christian homeschooling couple who had six biological children. The couple also adopted a younger Ethiopian boy. Once in the United States, Hana and her adopted brother were subjected to systematic isolation, severe physical beatings, and chronic starvation. Hana lost more than 30 pounds in the two years leading up to her death. She was forced to sleep in a cold barn or locked closet, use a portable toilet outside, and wash with a garden hose. The parents heavily relied on strict, controversial disciplinary tactics derived from the book "To Train Up a Child" by Michael and Debi Pearl. On May 12, 2011, Hana was stripped of her clothing and forced to stay outside in the backyard as punishment on a rainy night where temperatures dropped to roughly 40°F (or 4°C). Extremely emaciated and unable to retain body heat, she collapsed and died of hypothermia in the mud.

This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Indiana to discuss the case of Leviticus “Levi” Kuchta was a 10-year-old boy from Merrillville, who tragically died on October 12, 2020, after suffering months of extreme isolation, torture, and severe physical abuse at the hands of his sister and her wife. Levi came into the care of his older sister, April Kuchta Wright, and her wife, Rachel Wright, in August 2020. He had previously been under the guardianship of his grandmother after his mother was incarcerated on drug charges. On October 12, 2020, emergency responders were called to the couple's home on Fillmore Court, where they found Levi deceased in his bed. An autopsy revealed that he died instantly from blunt force trauma that caused a fatal dislocation of his cervical vertebrae spine. Investigators discovered that the boy was riddled with severe injuries from head to toe in various stages of healing and infection, including puncture wounds on his face that the couple had tried to conceal using caked-on makeup. Previous injuries, including a dislocated jaw and fractured spine, had rendered him entirely unable to walk or talk before his death. The women initially attempted to cover up the crime by claiming Levi had been injured in dirt bike accidents, but police quickly debunked the story after discovering the bike was covered in thick dust and spider webs.

This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Washington state to discuss the tragic case of Chayson Troy Colley. Chayson was born in Aberdeen, Washington, and was remembered by his family as a joyful, active toddler. According to his family, he loved playing outside, running through puddles, chasing and being chased, and dancing to the "Hot Diggity Dog Song" from the Mickey Mouse Club. He also enjoyed spending time on his grandfather's farm, playing with toys, and imitating adults with electronic devices like cell phones and tablets. Chayson passed away in Tacoma, Washington, on March 30, 2013. An autopsy later revealed that he had suffered fatal blows to his head and torso, along with extensive internal and external injuries. Following an investigation, Jake Musga pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and first-degree rape of a child in connection with Chayson's death. Investigators noted that the child's mother, Laura Elizabeth Colley, and Jake, had failed to seek necessary medical attention for the extensive bruising Chayson suffered prior to his death.

This week, Drewby and Yergy head back to Tucson, Arizon, to discuss the case of Wyllow Brewer, a a six-month-old infant who tragically died on February 19, 2017, as a result of severe, chronic child abuse and medical neglect. Following a Pima County Sheriff's Department investigation, four people living in the home were originally linked to or charged in connection with her death: Kylie Marie Brewer (Wyllow's mother), Jon-Paul Bogdanowich Jr. (Brewer's boyfriend), Kaylie Ryan Gossett (The couple's friend and babysitter), and Brianna Raidy (another friend). The primary three suspects - Kylie, Paul, and Kaylie - were initially indicted on charges of first-degree murder and felony child abuse. Charges against Brianna were eventually dropped. Authorities noted that the individuals provided conflicting versions of how the baby sustained her injuries, and evidence of heavy methamphetamine use was recovered from the residence.
