This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Burnt House Farm in Tabley, near Knutsford, Cheshire, UK, to discuss the case of Brian Waters. Brian was a 44-year-old Cannabis farmer who was tortured for four hours and systematically beaten to death in front of his adult children over a £20,000 drugs debt. Brian operated an illicit cannabis cultivation site at Burnt House Farm. A dispute over money arose between him and a drug dealer named John Wilson. On the day of the murder, a gang ambushed the farm. Brian and his farm assistant, Suleman Razak, were tied up, beaten with a metal bar, assaulted with staple guns, and suspended upside down from roof rafters into barrels of liquid. Both were burned with phosphoric acid. Brian suffered 123 external injuries and died at the scene. Suleman survived the ordeal. The attackers tracked down Brian's 25-year-old son, Gavin, and 21-year-old daughter, Natalie, forcing them to watch the torture. The gang also abducted his wife, Julie, from their home and drove her to the farm. Although three men were ultimately arrested in the attack, another man, Christopher Guest More Jr., fled the UK, spent 16 years on the run.

This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Decatur, Georgia, to discuss the case of 7-year-old Alivia Hobbs-Jordan, who tragically died after being deliberately abandoned by her biological mother, Alondra Hobbs. In June 2023, DeKalb County police responded to a 911 call from an anonymous neighbor reporting a foul odor and a deceased child inside a vacant unit at the Hidden Valley Apartments. Upon investigating, officers discovered Alivia's mummified remains strapped into a stroller hidden inside a bedroom closet. Investigators determined that Alivia, who had autism and cerebral palsy, had been buckled into the stroller and shut in the closet months earlier, between February and June 2023. Her mother had completely moved out of the apartment, leaving Alivia behind with no intention of returning. To cover up the crime, the mother told family members and neighbors that Alivia was staying with her father's side of the family. Autopsy reports indicated that Alivia died from severe starvation and dehydration. Alondra Hobbs was arrested in late June 2023. During police interrogations, she admitted to abandoning the child, claiming that her life had become "too much." Presiding Judge LaTisha Dear Jackson sentenced Hobbs to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Additional details from court records noted that Alivia had never received proper medical treatment for her medical conditions, and Alondra had continued to collect the child's government disability checks after abandoning her.

This week, Drew and Yergy head back to Northeast Ohio to discuss the case of Aliana DeFreeze, a 14-year-old schoolgirl with a developmental disability who was tragically kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and brutally murdered in Cleveland, on January 26, 2017. On her way to E Prep & Village Prep Woodland Hills, Alianna boarded an RTA bus but was followed and abducted near East 93rd Street and Kinsman Road. Her body was discovered three days later inside an abandoned home on Fuller Avenue. Christopher Whitaker, a registered sex offender with an extensive criminal history, was linked to the scene via DNA evidence. In March of 2018, he was convicted of aggravated murder, kidnapping, rape, and gross abuse of a corpse. He was sentenced to death. In 2021, Christopher's legal team appealed to change the sentence to life without parole. Alianna’s father, Damon DeFreeze, publicly agreed with a life sentence, stating that death was "too quick" and that he deserved to "sit there and think about what he did."

This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Springfield, Missouri, to discuss the case of Hailey Marie Owens, a 10-year-old girl was abducted, sexually assaulted, and killed by Craig Wood. Her case sparked national outrage, led to significant changes in local law enforcement response times, and inspired legislative reform regarding child safety alerts. Hailey Owens was walking home from a friend's house in broad daylight in northwest Springfield when 45-year-old Craig Wood pulled up next to her in a Ford Ranger. After pretending to ask for directions, he lunged from the vehicle, grabbed her, and threw her into the truck. Crucial eyewitnesses pursued the truck and successfully noted its license plate number, providing it directly to the police. Using the license plate details, law enforcement traced the truck to Craig's home. Upon entering the house hours later, investigators discovered that Hailey had already been raped and shot in the back of the head. It should be noted that Craig Wood was a local school district employee and youth sports coach. In 2017, a jury found Craig guilty of first-degree murder. However, because the jury deadlock occurred during the penalty phase, the final sentencing fell to the judge. In 2018, Greene County Judge Thomas Mountjoy officially sentenced him to death. Craig's legal team filed multiple appeals over the years, arguing ineffective counsel and challenging statements made during the penalty phase. The Missouri Supreme Court unanimously denied his final appeal on January 13, 2026, officially affirming his death sentence. He remains on death row at the Potosi Correctional Center.

This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Tampa, Florida, to discuss the case of 7-year-old Amanda Victoria Brown, who tragically disappeared from her home on September 11th, 1998. Her high-profile case led to the ultimate conviction of a repeat offender, although her physical remains have never been found. On the morning of September 11th, Amanda's mother, Kathy Hartman, woke up at around 6:00 AM to discover that her daughter was missing from her bedroom. Also missing from the trailer was Willie Seth Crain Jr, a 52-year-old local crab fisherman whom Kathy had met at a bar a couple of days prior and allowed into her home. Willie was a convicted child molester who had previously served time in prison. Although Amanda’s body was never recovered, investigators discovered traces of Amanda's blood on Willie’s boxer shorts, a tissue, and a toilet seat inside his trailer. He was arrested, tried, and found guilty of first-degree murder and kidnapping in 1999. He was sentenced to death.
