On September 14, 2007, 14-year-old Andrew Gosden left his Doncaster home in his school uniform, then waited in a nearby park until his family was gone. He slipped back inside, changed into a Slipknot t-shirt and jeans and withdrew £200 from his bank account. then he walked to the train station, where he bought a one-way ticket to London. CCTV caught him leaving King's Cross at 11:25 that morning. After that, nothing. He took his bank card, his keys, and his handheld gaming console, but forgot the charger. In one of the most surveilled cities in the world, Andrew Gosden vanished and never came home.

First, 12-year-old Steven Kraft, Jr., who walked his two dogs around his Benton Township, Michigan neighborhood in 2001 and never came home. We're also searching for 28-year-old Sarah Burton, a young mother who was dropped off near a Joplin, Missouri intersection just after midnight in 2018 and vanished on the short walk home. And we'll tell you about 19-year-old Nyeasha Pickens, last spotted at a Cordele, Georgia gas station in the early morning hours of 2025, and hasn't been seen since.

In this episode, we're joined by Andrea Dunlop, host of Nobody Should Believe Me, to examine the haunting case of Madeleine McCann. On the evening of May 3, 2007, three-year-old Madeleine McCann vanished from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, while her parents dined at a nearby restaurant. What followed became the most publicized missing child investigation in modern history. The global media spectacle turned her parents into suspects, generated more heat than light, and produced decades of leads that went nowhere. A German national was formally named a suspect in 2020, but no charges have been filed. Behind the noise of international coverage, a small child simply disappeared.

On the morning of June 1, 1987, 16-year-old Theresa Ann Bier left her uncle's home in Fresno, California, dressed for school. Instead, she went on a camping trip with a 43-year-old friend of her uncle's in the Sierra Nevada Mountains to search for Bigfoot. When the man resurfaced in Fresno days later without Theresa, he said she had wandered off into the woods. He then offered an account stranger than anyone expected. Detectives found holes in his story almost immediately, but after a few attempts to comb the rugged wilderness, no trace of Theresa was ever recovered. Without a body, prosecutors could never bring him to trial. Nearly four decades later, authorities still suspect Theresa was murdered, and no one knows exactly how or why.
