The Final Hours with Sarah Turney and Kourtney Nichole

Seventeen months after Nancy Moyer vanished, a deputy stopped a pickup truck a mile from her front door and found the body of a woman in the passenger seat. The driver lived down the road from Nancy, and one of her daughters recognized him as a salesman who had come to their door. Then came a tip about a coworker who poured concrete in his backyard just after she disappeared. And a 911 call from a man who said he was tired of holding in a confession. But none of the leads ever led to an arrest, or clear answers on what happened to Nancy Moyer.

When Nancy Moyer's estranged husband brought their daughters to her house on the evening of Sunday, March 8th, 2009, the front door was resting open against the frame. The television was on, her car sat out front, and a half-finished glass of wine stood on the coffee table beside a second. Detectives found no forced entry, no sign of a struggle, and both glasses had only Nancy's prints on them. The investigation never produced a body, a weapon or a crime scene. The only things missing from that house were Nancy and her favorite winter coat.

The morning after Brandon Swanson disappeared, a bloodhound pressed its nose to his abandoned car and set off across the Minnesota farmland. The trail wandered for miles, plunged into the rushing Yellow Medicine River, and then, picked back up on the other side before ending at a gravel road. Some investigators believed Brandon had drowned, but his parents' doubted the theory. Eighteen years of searches have brought cadaver dogs, a bone that wasn't his, and a drought that finally emptied the river itself. But none of it has brought Brandon home.

In May 2008, 19-year-old Brandon Swanson called his parents to say his car had slid off the road and he needed a ride. He swore he knew exactly where he was. But when his parents' flashing headlights never found him, Brandon started walking toward town, his father still on the line, until he yelled two words and went silent. What began as a routine favor became one of Minnesota's most confounding disappearances: an officer who said Brandon had a "right to be missing," his car found twenty-five miles from where he swore he was, and almost two hours of his final night that no one has ever explained.

For more than three decades, the disappearance of Michaela "Kayla" Garecht drew false confessions, dead-end digs, and a parade of suspects. A lying jailhouse tipster, a convicted child killer, the notorious "Speed Freak Killers" and a well full of bones. Before finally, a partial palm print was pulled from Kayla's scooter. Each lead raised her family's hopes; each one broke their hearts. Decades after a stranger drove her away, a charge would finally name a suspect, even as a mother refused to stop searching for the truth about what happened to her daughter.
