In this episode, I share gentle, practical ways to navigate the day: supporting your children’s emotions, caring for your own wellbeing, and finding an approach that works for your unique family situation. • 469 - SMSG Turns 9!
This week, my podcast turns 9 years old – can you believe it?! When I started Single Mother Survival Guide, I hoped it might reach one or two single mums and help them feel less alone. Now, nearly a million downloads later, I’m pinching myself. This episode is extra special because it’s also my first time recording in 2025, after taking some time off to welcome my beautiful baby boy, Sebastian, in February (on my birhday). In this episode, I share big life updates – from moving back to Sydney and celebrating Christmas, to my baby shower, a trip to Tasmania, catching COVID, Sebastian’s birth, the baby blues, and checking in on my mental health. I talk about parenting this time with a partner (and proving to myself I could still do it alone if I had to), relationship curveballs, postnatal anxiety, matrescence, and joining an anxiety group. I also reflect on moments that brought back single mum memories, co-parenting challenges, supporting my daughter through a big year of change, and the lessons I’m still learning. It’s a mix of celebration, honesty, and heartfelt gratitude – and I’d love for you to join me in this conversation. Press play, celebrate with me, and let’s keep walking this journey together. • 468 - Disneyland dads and the fun parent trap - Why stability trumps spectacle
As single mums, life often feels like a balancing act. On one hand, you’re the loving, nurturing parent your children need. On the other, you might feel pressure to become the “fun parent” they want. Throw co-parenting into the mix - especially with an ex who takes on the role of the Disneyland Dad, prioritising fun over routine - and that balance can feel impossible to maintain. But here’s the truth: being the fun parent isn’t all it’s made out to be. In this episode, we dive into why competing to be the “fun parent” isn’t the answer, how the role of a Disneyland Dad impacts co-parenting, and why providing stability is the ultimate gift you can give your children. Links mentioned in the episode:  Click HERE to get our free resource guide for practical tips on maintaining balance and providing stability for your children. Let’s help you focus on what truly matters: building a secure and loving environment for your kids. Download the E-book, I'm A Single Mum... Acerca de Single Mother Survival Guide

Becoming a single mum is one of the most daunting and overwhelming life changes someone will ever go through. Whether you are pregnant or have teenagers, you will most likely be confused and struggling with what to do next. I became a single mum in 2013 when my daughter was just a few months old, and it has been a challenging but rewarding journey ever since. This Podcast (and the website www.singlemothersurvivalguide) was created to assist newly single mothers in all things they may need to know about. SO WHAT IS THE SINGLE MOTHER SURVIVAL GUIDE PODCAST ABOUT? A Podcast for single mums, made by a single mum… The Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast includes a mixture of me babbling about single mums business and interviews and discussions with different people and experts about different topics. First off the ranks this includes an interview with a Wills and Estate lawyer which contains everything YOU need to know about getting a Will done, an interview with a financial adviser on everyday money management, savings, spending and so forth, an interview with an online security expert so that YOU know how to keep yourself secure online, an open interview with a domestic violence survivor and advocate, and another interview with a financial adviser on everything to do with insurance, and what you should think about getting insured to ensure the financial safety for you and your kids. Coming up after that I have chats with people including parenting experts, family lawyers, and a life coach. I also chat about the social stigma of being a single mum, single parent travel, everyday tips to make YOUR life easier, dating, personal budgeting, resources out there to help YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN, child support, domestic violence, successful co-parenting, advantages to being a single mum, and the list goes on…
