Padres disastrous road trip, Joe Musgrove setback, fans sound off

    02/09/2026 | 33 min
The San Diego Padres are playing some pretty bad baseball to start the final month of the regular season.

Marty Caswell and Darren Smith discussed the team's dismal 1-5 roadtrip after the series loss to the Cincinnati Reds, another rough outing by Casey Mize and why the Padres chose to give Ethan Salas his first major league start behind the plate with a pitcher he had never caught before.

The two then discussed the double whammy of bad news after Craig Stammen discussed a setback for Joe Musgrove, who is dealing with elbow fatigue after his latest rehab start. Will Musgrove pitch again in 2026? Why did Craig Stammen decide to give Manny Machado an off-day versus the Reds with the Padres badly needing a win?

Darren and Marty discussed the Padres strange lineup in the series finale, and why they're done seeing Fernando Tatis at second base. Marty and Darren then hear from frustrated Padres fans, who weigh in on what concerns them the most about this Padres team which just over three weeks to go in the regular season.

Padres wasted opportunities versus Reds, how will the Padres use Ethan Salas?

    02/09/2026 | 30 min
Will the Padres going 0-for-10 with RISP against the Cincinnati Reds come back to haunt them? Time will tell. Darren Smith and Marty Caswell discuss the Padres 4-3 loss to the Reds despite a solid outing by Randy Vasquez and two home runs by Fernando Tatis Jr.

The two also discuss if there's reasons to be concerned with a leaky bullpen after a rough outing by Adrian Morejon. Regardless of what the Padres do on Wednesday with Casey Mize on the mound, the team will head back to San Diego to face the Yankees on the heels of a massively disappointing road trip.

Marty and Darren then jump into the Padres news of the day, the arrival of 20-year-old catching prospect Ethan Salas, who arrived in the third inning. The two hear from manager Craig Stammen on what kind of role Salas will have, rave reviews from Nick Pivetta and Joe Musgrove during their rehab outings, and what it means for playing time for Luis Campusano and Freddy Fermin.

Marty and Darren then discuss the stunning news from the Padres neighbors up north, Artie Moreno selling the Angels to Stan Kroenke, the owner of the Rams, Denver Nuggets and Arsenal, for a record $4 billion dollars.

Can the Padres offense be trusted? Jackson Merrill digs deep, Heath Bell joins

    28/08/2026 | 32 min
The San Diego Padres went 4-2 at home but why does it fill like a homestand of missed opportunities versus the Pittsburgh Pirates?

Marty Caswell and Darren Smith discuss if they trust this version of the Padres offense and what to make of the reigning NL Player of the week amassing one hit versus the Pirates. The two discuss the excellent pitching staff, and if it's enough for the Padres to really make a run.

Darren and Marty hear from manager Craig Stammen on some baffling swings from Jackson Merrill and how he dug deep after a rough game to make some adjustments in their sole win versus the Pirates. The duo also hear from Merrill, on what he's searching for and why he can go from looking like he's clueless to the best player on the planet.

The show then welcomes in former Padres All-Star closer Heath Bell to discuss what's stood out from the Padres series loss to the Pirates and why it's not necessarily a bad thing. Bell discusses why some of the Padres struggles could actually propel them going into September, and why Craig Stammen should employ some small ball when the offense is struggling.

Bell discusses Mason Miller giving up his first home run in over a year and why it can be a sense of relief for a pitcher when an insane streak comes to an end. Marty, Darren and Heath also discuss Miller's usage, and the mutual trust closers and their managers need to have with each other about their health and availability.

The three then discuss Manny Machado playing every single day despite his various ailments, and how that resonates in the clubhouse Are the Padres better off giving Machado a day off despite the collective struggles of the rest of the offense, or does he just need to grind through the final 30 games of the regular season? Marty points out the lack of obvious reinforcements available as the Padres await the return of Samad Taylor and Miguel Andujar.

Marty, Darren and Heath then discuss Casey Mize staying on track for his Friday start versus the. Rays despite his ankle injury after tripping on the dugout steps. The three then weigh in on the silliest baseball injuries, and what to make of Ketel Marte's strange absence from the team.

Offense MIA in series loss, Stammen's bullpen decisions, Buss family joins Padres

    26/08/2026 | 33 min
From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows.

Darren Smith and Marty Caswell discuss the San Diego Padres series loss to the Pirates on the heels of sweeping the Twins and the introductions of the new ownership group. The two discuss the shock of seeing Mason Miller give up his first home run in over a year, Miller's comments on human's being idiots sometime and why manager Craig Stammen said he was comfortable using Miller and Morejon, despite their workload.

Marty and Darren also discuss Manny Machado's bruised index finger and slumping offense, and who should bat third should Stammen drop him in the order. Spoiler alert, everyone not named Ty France and Fernando Tatis is in a slump.

The two then discuss the latest ownership news with Joe and Jesse Buss, sons of legendary Lakers owner Jerry Buss joining Kwanza Jones and Jose E. Feliciano with a 5% share of the Padres. What kind of role will they have as owners and why does it matter if they had experience in the NBA with roster construction and salary cap issues? Marty and Darren discuss the weird uncertainty that still hangs around the Padres and what this could mean in the future.

Fernando Tatis sizzling, Padres sweep Twins, players react to new owners

    24/08/2026 | 33 min
The San Diego Padres new owners are inheriting one of the hottest teams in baseball.

Marty Caswell and Darren Smith discuss the Padres sweep over the Minnesota Twins, the scorching hot Fernando Tatis after his four-hit, two home run performance, and Walker Buehler's third straight quality start. The two hear from Padres manager Craig Stammen on the three-game sweep and why Buehler can smell the postseason.

Darren and Marty hit the biggest takeaways from a busy weekend, the latest on Casey Mize's weird sprained ankle injury, Randy Vasquez's strong statement to stay in the Padres rotation, and the next step for Joe Musgrove. How are the Padres players reacting to the upcoming official introduction of the team's new owners, led by Kwanza Jones and Jose E. Feliciano?

The two hear from Manny Machado and Joe Musgrove, and discuss the big uncertainty on how the ownership group will operate. What kind of relationship will Jones and Feliciano have inside the clubhouse and will remotely resemble the special relationship Peter Seidler had with players such as Machado, Tatis and Musgrove?

Marty and Darren hear from an optimistic and upbeat Tatis on anticipation for the new ownership group, and the team and city they are buying into.
