Karl and I wrap up Darkness Weaves, at least for now.  This week we complete our discussion of LEGION FROM THE SHADOWS, the novel by Karl Edward Wagner that expanded on the Bran Mak Morn story WORMS OF THE EARTH by Robert E Howard. Author Allison Gunn joins us this week. NOWHERE, her debut novel came across my desk and immediately grabbed me with its tight prose and brooding atmosphere. Part police procedural, part folk horror and part family drama, I devoured the novel in about 3 sittings.  Allison’s follow up novel HIVE MIND is slated for a 2027 release so stay tuned.

After a short break, I’m back this week. Paul Aloisio of Restless Spirit returns for a chat. This has been quite a year for Restless Spirit with the release of this year’s self-titled release and their diligent roadwork. Definitely a contender for this year’s list.

My brother Ralph Schmidt returns to the podcast this week.  It’s been a while since he was last on, so it was great to catch up.  Ralph is one of the founding member of Ultha, who have released a new album this year called A LIGHT SO DIM which will undoubtedly be showing up on my top 10 of 2026 list.
