Everything Went Black Podcast

This week we dive into what might be the first true sword and sorcery story ever written. Behold THE SHADOW KINGDOM by Robert E. Howard, first published in August 1929 in Weird Tales.  The story features Kull, king of ancient Valusia, brooding shadows, reptile men and the introduction of Brule the Spear Slayer, Kull’s most trusted ally.

Alex Garcia Riverra joins us this week, primarily to talk about his Mystic Valley Studio, one of the only all-analog studio in the US. Between me and you, I booked Alex mostly just to catch up, hang out and get into some deep philosophy regarding creativity, life and the passage of time. Aside from being on of the most brilliant recording engineers that I’ve experienced, he is an incredible drummer who has been a longtime member of American Nightmare as well as a host of other notable bands.

We met when my old band Anodyne played with his old band, the seminal NYC grind band BLACK ARMY JACKET.
