How Haunted? Podcast | Horrible Histories, Real Life Ghost Stories, and Paranormal Investigations from Some of the Most Haunted Places on Earth

Originally released for Patreon supporters in July 2025 I hope you enjoy this very special episode.

In the 35th Patreon bonus podcast you join me for the second part of a paranormal investigation deep within a vast, dark, forest. Our focus is the site of a former isolation hospital that held those with infectious diseases such as scarlet fever and tuberculosis.

We pick up our paranormal investigation as Tom, John and I enter a building that was once used to wash the bodies of the dead.

So tonight, let us once again ask the question, just how haunted is the Scaffold Hill Hospital?

In episode 149, our journey through Touched by the Dead continues as we explore one of the most controversial areas of paranormal investigation – Electronic Voice Phenomena, or EVP. These are recordings that, according to those who capture them, contain the voices of people who are no longer living.

We'll trace the history of EVP from Spiritualism and Thomas Edison to Friedrich Jürgenson and Konstantin Raudive, before listening to recordings supplied by paranormal investigators from around Britain and asking what, if anything, we're really hearing.

So join me and together let us ask, can the dead speak through technology?

Enormous thank you to my EVP volunteers, Richie Woods, Bonnie Elliott, Daisy Wilson, Brittany Johnson, and Nicholas Chuter.

Huge thanks also go to Sean Richards, Kent and South East Paranormal (KASE Paranormal), Justine and everyone at the Shadow Stalkers, Joanne and the team at Solway Paranormal, and Rob Davies of the Dead Air Youtube channel and Spiritus Paranormal.

In Patreon Bonus Episode 51, you join me in Stockton-on-Tees, inside Elmwood House.

It's just after ten o'clock at night. The doors have been locked, the staff have gone home, and for the next eleven hours I'll be completely alone inside this Victorian building.

Around me are multiple audio recorders, a night vision observation room, motion sensors, cat balls, and a few experiments I've never attempted before.

Over the coming hours, I'll attempt to discover why so many people leave Elmwood House convinced they've experienced something they can't explain.

This episode was recorded entirely on location, live inside the building itself.

So what happens when you spend the night completely alone inside one of the North East's most talked-about paranormal locations?

Let's find out.

Tonight, join me as we find out just how haunted is Elmwood House?

In episode 148, our journey through Touched by the Dead continues as we turn our attention to physical traces.

Throughout history, people have reported discovering marks they believed could not be explained through ordinary means. Burned handprints. Unexplained scratches. Marks appearing on religious objects. Statues said to weep tears or blood.

A sighting lasts a moment.

A physical trace remains.

Tonight we'll travel from Rome to Japan, explore some of the world's strangest claims and ask a simple question, can the dead leave their mark?
