- This week Alex, Tyler, and Beck review our latest milestone sale, the gorgeous Ferrari 288 GTO that was BaT Auctions lot #250,000. They talk about whether there's a logical value cap on BaT; the different ways that our promotion hits vs. the traditional methods for very expensive cars, and the massive difference in audience size; why it doesn't matter if two amazing cars close at the same time; the modern trend of "reimagined" classics; and how old a car needs to be for a quality Route 66 trip.
The trio also express Duchov luv, have a very California discussion of cross-country routes, recount a Taken-style house move, marvel at the depreciation curves for modern high-dollar offerings, dive into BaT model pages, and make a promise they can't keep.

Let us know at podcast@bringatrailer.com! - This week Alex and Tyler embark on a quick rehash of the reaction to our last (B)at the Movies episode; reminisce about the days when you could still wrap your mind around the Star Wars universe; discover Tyler's Corvette origin story (and possibly that of the frame-swapped C2); reveal the BaT staff habit of taking conference calls in various cars parked downstairs at HQ; fuel ethanol-based paranoia; and compare the lot numbers (beat #818 - Ed.) when they started at BaT to the 250,000 we've now surpassed. That of course lends itself to a discussion of the Ferrari 288 GTOthat is set to wrap up next week, one that includes Tyler casually dropping yet another surprise ride-along story.
Moving on to the bikes: the pair discuss the preponderance of cool two-wheelers in Europe and several great recent moto sales on BaT, both in the US and abroad, including a host of Vincents and a special Indian. They take a not-unexpected digression into Steve McQueen territory, pause for a Harley revelation, and finally, spend a few minutes talking about Alex's recent impromptu trip to the UK to spend some time on track at Goodwood.

Got suggestions for our next guest from the BaT community or an idea for our next game episode? Let us know at podcast@bringatrailer.com! - For episode 182, we go back nearly two years for an encore presentation of our very first One-Year Garage game. These episodes have been very popular since, and we'll have a fresh one coming up soon!
Alex, Randy, and Zac Try a New Thing: game time! The One-Year Garage requires them to pick one car from a certain model year for each of five categories: Sports Car, Family Hauler, Truck/4x4, Daily Driver, and Wild Card. They make up the rules as they go, and along the way discuss local trivia about The Graduate; a two-tone requirement for Randy's future car collection; whether it's necessary to remember the names of one's offspring; dieting to fit in your diminutive daily driver; a little-known fact about the '67 Mustang; an episode-long argument [you're both right! -Ed.]; a heated debate about what constitutes a sports car [you're all right! -Ed.]; how said definition relates to the owner's heart health; and the undying question, "how wild is wild?"
We want to know: What five cars are on your list? Why are our picks stupid? What did we forget about in our race to pick perfection? Let us know in the comments!

Got questions for the BaT staff or suggestions for our next guest? Don’t hesitate to let us know! Write in to podcast@bringatrailer.com and we’ll do our best to address them. - This week we have a full house for our next movie installment: Beck, Tyler, and Cam join Alex to talk about the joys and pains of 2000's Nic Cage vehicle Gone in 60 Seconds, and the 1974 cult film of the same name that loosely inspired it. The crew discuss how each of them came to the movie (or both, as the case may be); expose their divides of opinion early; wantonly throw around the term "masterpiece"; marvel at the huge budget divide between the old and new films, just one of the many massive differences; lament the painfully cringey car dialogue; discuss fair payment for a job done; differentiate between "nighttime" and "hot time"; and confess to some Eleanor-based confusion.
And then, on to the cars. What perspective has 26 years of hindsight given us on which cars got boosted and which didn't? How was no one worried about security in a circa-2000 Ferrari warehouse? Where does the modern move sit in the pantheon of films involving car chases in the LA River. Exactly how bad was CGI in 2000? Our rowdy group of cig-rippin' drug-thievin' miscreants closes by talking about Angelina's hair, other elements that don't hold up, and some of their favorite cars in both movies.
Got suggestions for our next guest from the BaT community or an idea for our next game episode? Let us know at podcast@bringatrailer.com! - This week Randy hosts Rob Fisher (@Acecaracer on BaT), chairman of the foundation behind the Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance, who claims the mantle of longest continually running concours in the world. BaT will be sponsoring and joining the 70th annual running of this three-day event, culminating June 28 at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame. Discount alert! The first 200 people to buy their tickets for Sunday, June 28 on the Hillsborough Concours website using the code BAT26 get $10 off the ticket price!
Randy and Rob talk about having a 250 GTO and a Wienermobile in the same show; the Concours' all-volunteer organization; featuring the hundredth anniversary of Mercedes-Benz with a 1939 540K Special Roadster from the Keller Collection; the increased difficulties in getting pre-war halo cars to a venue; the charities that benefit from the proceeds of the event; the origins of the show as a community gathering with guests like Bing Crosby and Abigail van Buren; the turmoil of big changes in 2009, and the evolution since. They leave time to talk about Rob's discovery of BaT, some of the cars he's bought and sold here, and transporting important cars to Moscone Center through San Francisco's less-than-stellar neighborhoods in the wee hours.
