The Padres grind out a MASSIVE win in the series finale, using elite baserunning and late-game execution to avoid the sweep against the White Sox.

 

After back-to-back home runs from Manny Machado and Miguel Andújar gave San Diego an early lead, the game flipped when Adrián Morejón allowed a two-run pinch-hit homer to Derek Hill, tying things up and shifting momentum.

 

But the Padres answered in the biggest moment of the game.

 

In the bottom of the 8th inning, San Diego manufactured the go-ahead run with THREE stolen bases, relentless pressure, and a clutch two-out infield RBI from Xander Bogaerts. That inning defined the game — aggressive, gritty, and playoff-style baseball.

 

Griffin Canning was outstanding, working through multiple jams and keeping the Padres in control early, while the bullpen held strong late.

 

Then came Mason Miller.

 

“The Reaper” shut it down in the 9th, delivering another dominant save and continuing one of the most electric closing stretches in baseball.

 

This was a statement win:

✔ No sweep

✔ Clutch hitting

✔ Elite baserunning

✔ Shutdown pitching

San Diego Padres fall 4-0 to the Chicago White Sox in a game defined by missed opportunities and an ice-cold lineup.

 

The turning point came in the 6th inning when a two-out bloop single off Michael King opened the door for Chicago. King battled all night but was sent back out for the 7th, where the game slipped away — a key second-guess decision.

 

Then came the 9th inning.

 

Bases loaded. Nobody out.

And the Padres didn’t score.

 

San Diego finished with just 5 hits, struck out 10 times, and had only ONE runner reach second base all night (Miguel Andújar).

 

Meanwhile, the White Sox — winners of 13 of their last 16 — continue to apply relentless offensive pressure and get elite pitching, led tonight by Sean Burke.

San Diego Padres fall 8-2 to the Chicago White Sox after a disastrous 6-run second inning off Germán Márquez — and they never recovered.

 

This game was lost early… but it could’ve been VERY different.

 

The Padres loaded the bases in the 1st inning with THREE walks and came away with NOTHING. From there, Chicago made them pay — highlighted by a 3-run blast from Munetaka Murakami that blew the game open.

 

Meanwhile, Fernando Tatis Jr. was the ONLY offense for San Diego, going 3-for-3 with a walk while the rest of the lineup started 0-for-22.
