The San Diego Padres take down the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-2, continuing their dominance — now winning 13 of their last 15 against Pittsburgh.

 

This game was scoreless through six innings before the Padres exploded for four runs in the 7th inning, the clear turning point. The Pirates answered with two in the bottom half, but San Diego held the line thanks to huge defensive plays by Ramon Laureano.

 

Michael King earns his first win of the season, battling through traffic and getting help from back-to-back double plays early. Jake Cronenworth delivered the big swing with a 2-run homer, and the Padres added insurance late, including an RBI from Fernando Tatis Jr..

 

The Pirates committed three costly errors, and the Padres capitalized, out-hitting them 10-6.

 

Mason Miller slammed the door in the 9th with dominant stuff in his hometown.

The San Diego Padres fall 7-1 to the Pittsburgh Pirates in a game that was tight… until it wasn’t.

 

Paul Skenes dominated early, carrying a no-hitter into the 6th inning before Fernando Tatis Jr. broke it up with a single. That moment gave the Padres life — but they failed to capitalize.

 

The turning point came earlier when Oneil Cruz delivered a 2-run double off Nick Pivetta, with the Pirates consistently hitting into gaps and beating defensive positioning all night.

 

Pivetta struck out 8 hitters for the second straight start and gave the Padres a chance, but the bullpen couldn’t hold it. Adrian Morejon had a disastrous outing in the 8th inning, allowing 5 runs and blowing the game open.

 

Xander Bogaerts provided the only offense with a solo home run, but it wasn’t enough against a Pirates team that played clean, fundamental baseball from start to finish.
