Opening Day Letdown: Giants force-feed Nabers, miss key chances
The Giants opened their season with a disappointing loss in Washington. Both Carl Banks and Bob Papa highlighted a feeling of déjà vu; this game felt eerily similar to struggles from last year. The Giants’ offense never found a consistent rhythm, and issues from the preseason, especially struggles on the offensive line, proved costly, allowing significant pressure on new QB Russell Wilson and making it difficult to establish the run. There was a heavy emphasis on getting the ball to rookie Malik Nabers, but he couldn’t capitalize on a couple of key opportunities, dropping passes that could’ve changed the momentum.
