Produce la película Los Años Azules ganadora de más de 10 premios y nominada a mejor ópera prima en Los Arieles 2018. Directora de Me parezco tanto a ti y Tío Yim, “una de las joyas ocultas del cine documental” según BBC_REEL, y una de las 10 mejores películas de 2020 según TimeOutMX. Emily Johnson is an artist who makes body-based work. She is a land and water protector and an activist for justice, sovereignty, and well-being. A Bessie Award-winning choreographer, Guggenheim Fellow, and recipient of the Doris Duke Artist Award, she is based in Lenapehoking / New York City. Emily is of the Yup’ik Nation, and since 1998 has created work that considers the experience of sensing and seeing performance. Her dances function as portals and care processions, they engage audienceship within and through space, time, and environment- interacting with a place's architecture, peoples, history, and role in building futures. Emily is trying to make a world where performance is part of life; where performance is an integral connection to each other, our environment, our stories, our past, present, and future. Emily hosts monthly ceremonial fires on Mannahatta in partnership with Abrons Arts Center and Karyn Recollet. She was a co-compiler of the document, Creating New Futures: Guidelines for Ethics and Equity in the Performing Arts and is part of an advisory group, with Reuben Roqueni, Ed Bourgeois, Lori Pourier, Ronee Penoi, and Vallejo Gantner - developing a First Nations Performing Arts Network. Emily Johnson es una artista que crea trabajos basados en el cuerpo. Es protectora de la tierra y el agua, y activista por la justicia, la soberanía y el bienestar. Coreógrafa ganadora del premio Bessie, becaria Guggenheim y ganadora del premio Doris Duke Artist Award; vive en Lenapehoking/Nueva York. Emily es de la nación Yup'ik y desde 1998 ha creado trabajos que consideran la experiencia de percibir y ver el performance. Sus danzas funcionan como portales y procesiones de atención, involucran al público dentro y a través del espacio, el tiempo y el entorno; interactuando con la arquitectura, los pueblos, la historia y el papel de un lugar en la construcción del futuro. Emily está tratando de crear un mundo en el que el performance sea parte de la vida; donde es una conexión integral entre nosotros, nuestro entorno, nuestras historias, nuestro pasado, presente y futuro. Emily organiza fuegos ceremoniales mensuales en Mannahatta en asociación con Abrons Arts Center y Karyn Recollet. Fue co-compiladora del documento “Creando Nuevos Futuros: Pautas para la Ética y la Equidad en las Artes Escénicas”, y es parte de un grupo asesor -junto con Reuben Roqueni, Ed Bourgeois, Lori Pourier, Ronee Penoi y Vallejo Gantner-, para desarrollar la Red de Artes Escénicas de las Primeras Naciones.

Manuel Estrella es un artista interdisciplinario, egresado de la licenciatura en Artes Musicales de la Escuela Superior de Artes de Yucatán. Su interés se centra en la investigación del sonido y el cuerpo en la escena. Su trabajo sonoro y escénico se ha presentado en países como Estados Unidos, España, Brasil, Colombia, Uruguay, Chile, Suecia y Alemania así como en numerosos foros y festivales de la República Mexicana. Ha hecho piezas musicales y diseños sonoros para coreógrafos y directores escénicos nacionales e internacionales como: Raquel Araujo, Jorge Vargas, Lourdes Luna, Tamara Cubas, Eun Jung Choi, Jaciel Neri, Shanti Vera, Jaime Camarena , Roberto Olivan, Francisco Cordova, Aladino Blanca y Viko Hernandez. Ha sido Becario del Fomento Estatal para la Cultura y las Artes de Yucatán (FOECAY) “Jóvenes Creadores” 2007, Programa de Estimulo a la Creación y Desarrollo de las Artes (PECDA) “Jóvenes Creadores” 2014, y del Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las artes (FONCA) “Jóvenes Creadores” 2017-2018. Ha sido dos veces ganador del “Premio Nacional de Danza Guillermo Arriaga” en las emisiones 2014 y 2015 por mejor música original en las obras “Habitante” y “El reparto de lo sensible” dirigidas por Shanti Vera. Manuel Estrella is an interdisciplinary artist with a BA of Musical Arts from the Escuela Superior de Artes of Yucatán. His interest is in the research of sound and the body on stage. His work has been presented in the United States, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Chile, Sweden, and Germany as well as in numerous forums and festivals in Mexico. Estrella has composed musical pieces and sound designs for national and international choreographers and stage directors such as: Raquel Araujo, Jorge Vargas, Lourdes Luna, Tamara Cubas, Eun Jung Choi, Jaciel Neri, Shanti Vera, Jaime Camarena, Roberto Olivan, Francisco Cordova, Aladino Blanca and Viko Hernandez. He has been beneficiary of the State Promotion for Culture and the Arts of Yucatan grant (FOECAY) "Young Creators" 2007, Program to Foment the Creation and Development of the Arts (PECDA) "Young Creators" 2014 and the National Culture and Arts Fund (FONCA) "Young Creators" 2017-2018. Manuel has been awarded twice of the "Guillermo Arriaga National Dance Award" in the 2014 and 2015 editions for best original music in the pieces "Habitante" and "El reparto de lo sensible," both directed by Shanti Vera.

A printmaker, painter, and sculptor, the work of today’s guest draws upon her rich Diné cultural heritage. She works to serve as an agent of change by encouraging others to learn about social, cultural, and political phenomena shaping the contemporary lives of Native peoples in the United States and beyond. She travels the world to connect with other Indigenous peoples. Her visits to New Zealand, the Arctic, the Pueblos in the Southwest, and to Indigenous peoples of Russia have been the impetus for continued dialogue about cultural practices, language, song, story-telling, and survival. She is represented by Glenn Green Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, her work is held in many collections around the USA and internationally, and participated in over 500 group and solo exhibitions. Melanie Yazzie has been reviewed in Focus Magazine, Santa Fe, the Los Angeles Times, New Zealand Herald, and she is mentioned in ‘Printmaking in the Sun’ by Dan Welden and Pauline Muir and ‘The Lure of the Local: Sense of Place in a Multi Centered Society’ by Lucy Lippard. Grabadora, pintora y escultora, el trabajo de la invitada de hoy se basa en su rica herencia cultural Diné. Trabaja para servir como agente de cambio al alentar a otros a aprender sobre los fenómenos sociales, culturales y políticos que dan forma a la vida contemporánea de los pueblos indígenas en los Estados Unidos y más allá. Viaja por el mundo para conectarse con otros pueblos indígenas. Sus visitas a Nueva Zelanda, el Ártico, los Pueblos en el Suroeste y los pueblos indígenas de Rusia han sido el ímpetu para el diálogo continuo sobre prácticas culturales, lenguaje, canciones, narración de historias y supervivencia. Está representada por Glenn Green Gallery en Santa Fe, Nuevo México. Su trabajo se encuentra en decenas de colecciones en los EUA e internacionalmente. Ha participado en más de 500 exposiciones grupales e individuales.
